Thanksgiving Meal Delivery 2017
Brighton Kiwanis worked with the Brighton Elks to provide hot Thanksgiving meals to 778 shut-ins, seniors and needy families in Brighton and the 27J school district boundaries on Thanksgiving Day. More than 70 individuals and businesses donated food and sundries, including more than 70 turkeys, 300 lbs. of potatoes, 75 lbs. of onions and carrots, and 100 pumpkin pies. Special thanks to the Adams County Sheriff for their generous monetary donation, Safeway for donating full ready-to-cook meals, United Power for the use of their portable generator for three days and Dean Chambers for solving our refrigeration problem.
In addition to dozens of our regular volunteers from Kiwanis, Elks, Brighton DECA, United Methodist Church, and the Greater Brighton Fire District, we had volunteers from Scout Troop #109, the Greater Brighton Fire District (Fire Engines 51 and 55 made deliveries), and numerous citizens who just showed up to help.
Elks Lodge #1586 stepped up big time as always. Thanks to everyone for another successful year.
